            Abstract

            Analysis of Bank Performance and Portfolio Formulation of Banking Sub Sector Stocks of Indonesian Stock Exchange. Ganjar Putra Panggalih The purposes of this thesis were to describe the performance of the banks which stocks were selected, then to measure the rate of return and risk of stock, and to formulate portfolio of stocks. Data used to describe the performance of banks was obtained from the bank's annual report which period was from 2007 to 2009. While the data used for analysis of shares was the daily stock price for 3-month study period (August-October 2010) and 59 data was obtained. The selected bank was a bank which stock was in the list of the LQ45 Index in the period August 2010 - January 2011, namely PT. BCA, Tbk (BBCA), PT. BNI, Tbk (BBNI), PT. BRI, Tbk (BBRI), PT. BTN, Tbk (BBTN), PT. Bank Danamon Indonesia, Tbk (BDMN), and PT. Bank Mandiri, Tbk (BMRI). The bank performance was analyzed using bank health indicator namely CAMELS and optimal portfolio of it was formulated using the Markowitz model. The results showed that the total assets, loans, deposits and net income of the six selected banks occupied more than 50% of to the national banking industry portion in 2009 which was consist of 121 banks. Average of ROA, LDR, NPL, and CAR in 2007 to 2009 for the six selected banks, were not significantly different from the average of the national banking industry. As for the NIM, the six selected banks' NIM were above the NIM of national banking industry. The results of efficient portfolio showed that there were 17 portfolios with the lowest risk level of 0.9% with the expected rate of return of 0.3%. The highest value of expected rate of return was 0.5% with the level of risks were 1.80%, 1.90%, 2.00%, 2.10%, 2.20%, and 2.30% respectively.
